Cosmic Storm Over Kirkjufell

Connection to Category: We often forget that we are in the greatest space ship ever - Earth. As we hurtle through outer space, at night and every night, evidence of the incredible cosmic forces at play unfold. I had a chance to capture just one of those many moments when a KP 7 geomagnetic storm erupted over Kirkjufell, Iceland, emitting the most common type of aurora - green auroras. A collision between our solar particles, Earth's magnetic field and oxygen created this breathtaking reminder that all of existence is wonder filled and magical.
